Participating in Cow Appreciation Day entails dressing like a cow and getting a FREE MEAL at Chick-fil-A, which happens to be a personal favorite for both Claude and me. All that to say when I found out about this special day earlier in the week I definitely marked the calendar for a meal or two today! There are at least three locations which are fairly near our house so I had initially actually thought about hitting different spots for breakfast, lunch, and dinner but figured that might be a little over the edge:) I did however go for both lunch and dinner today and thoroughly enjoyed both experiences...
For lunch, I met up with Asmaa and her two boys. Asmaa's husband is the other intern with Claude this year in their department. It was their first time to go to CFA and definitely the first time to dress up like a cow for a free meal:) I showed up armed and ready to help get them into costume and we pulled it off! At first I'm afraid I probably seemed a little crazy with my "costume bag" but once we got there and saw other people dressed up I think they realized I wasn't the only crazy person there:) As I said earlier, I had a good time and hope they did too. Maybe we can even stop by again for another lunch date later this summer...
After the lunch date, I went to the bookstore and then did some straightening up at the house (in preparation for my parents' upcoming visit...YAY!) About the time I was starting to get antsy about going to eat supper Claude got home and I informed him of what a great chance it was to eat out! Surprisingly (remember this is the guy who has repeatedly camped out himself) Claude was not all that thrilled about dressing up like a cow and even commented that he'd probably rather pay for his meal. Well, I proceeded to retape all my cow spots on and let him know that he could take the remaining spots or pay for his meal... He ended up "dressing" up as little as possible and declined my offer to wear ears. Once we got there he was VERY apprehensive about actually walking in but finally did. Right after we placed our orders the funniest moment of the night occurred. The cashier looked us over and noted that both my head and body were "cow"-ish which would get me the full meal. He then looked at Claude and begin to explain that since only his T-shirt resembled a cow that he could only get the sandwich. Guess who looked like they wanted to cut a hole in the floor? You've got it. Good thing he was rescued by the cashier in the lane next to us who said that he passed for the whole meal:) You better believe we booked it to a table in the corner and kept a low profile as we ate!!! It was nonetheless a fun dining experience:)
And here are our blog pictures as we headed to the car...
Claude, embarassed or disappointed???
Me, proud to be a cow!
This was taken by Claude to document my dorky cow ears.
This is a picture taken while I'm saying, "moo...."Hope you all enjoyed Cow Appreciation Day as much as I did, but I don't know it that would be possible:)
