Unfortunately, I'm yet again a day late on a birthday post...nonetheless we want to send a blogging Happy Birthday wish out to my mom who celebrated her birthday yesterday. We actually got to celebrate with her a week early on the tail end of our trip home last week (which I'll blog soon) but wanted to make note of the occasion here as well:)
There's a quote on motherhood posted on a blog I frequent often...anybody guess whose blog that is? Even though I am not in the motherhood stage of life, I remember noticing it a while back and for the occasion it came into my mind - the quote is:
"the fundamental mission of motherhood now is the same as it always was: to nurture, protect, and instruct children, to create a home environment that enables them to learn and grow, to help them develop a heart for God and his purposes, and to send them out into the world prepared to live both fully and meaningfully."
I would dare to say that my mom is many things to many people: wife, daughter, aunt, teacher, friend, etc. but what I personally am most thankful for is that she's my mom and more than that she's been the kind of mom to me (and Miriam and Thomas) that is described above:)
