an unexpected surprise
Well I guess "unexpected surprise" is a bit redundant considering the definition of surprise but it's exactly what I got Wednesday mid-morning. There happened to be some tickets to a little old golf tournament right down the road for use that day for the lab and I got to go for the morning shift! I felt really bad about going without Claude because we had tried valiantly the day before to get in to no avail. Which is a fairly funny story in restrospective that maybe Claude will tell one day. Anyway, I did try to get in touch with him frantically before setting out for good for my turn with a ticket but due to lack of stellar phone service inside the hospital he didn't get the message til too late:( All that said-if anyone has any tickets over the next 5 years that you're willing to loan out even for a couple of minutes we'll definitely be happy to oblige so Claude can get a chance to experience what it is this city's known worldwide for...and I'd be more than happy to see some more myself! Since it was still part of the practice round portion I did get to take in my camera and get a couple of pictures to prove I was there - I consider myself to be a fairly avid sports fan in general but sadly don't know a whole lot about golf and that includes (not) being able to recognize many of the players. I guess I'll have to study up on the game in the coming year in the hopes that we get a chance to go again:) Aside from really missing Claude I enjoyed my couple of hours there quite a bit: the course was beautiful, there were tons of people, it was a gorgeous day, and the concessions were awesome! That's right - those of you who know me well (or know me at all!) will not be surprised to hear that one of my favorite parts of the day was going through the line at the concession stand. I had heard and read about the pimento cheese sandwiches and got to taste one myself along with a Diet Coke which was followed by an oatmeal raisin cookie and sweet tea. It was definitely as delicious as it sounds in case you were wondering... Alright, back to the golf stuff which I'll close for now with:

That's awesome, Rachel! My mom and dad have been to a practice round twice and really enjoyed it. They said the course is really beautiful!
