Due to the fact they had a marathon drive here on Friday and got in the wee morning hours of Saturday we had a pretty slow morning and then went to eat at a fun cafe near the river for lunch. We (meaning Claude and I) don't eat there all regularly but really like to make a special trip to eat with visitors. If it just happens to be nice weather it's especially awesome to eat outside and then walk down to the river afterwards. There were no pictures on my camera from this part of the weekend but take my work for it - it was a beautiful day!
Cooking with Laura on Saturday night. [To be honest the aprons we pretty much just donned for the picture but I think they're both super cute and both happen to be courtesy of my mom!] I don't have the best track record with actually cooking meals here at home (I'd MUCH rather bake) because I think in part I'm always scared I'll undercook the meat. Hence it was really nice to have Laura in the kitchen with me as moral support and cooking guidance. Another real plus to having Laura cook along with me was the delicious chocolate pie (a la Darby) she whipped up for us to enjoy over the rest of the weekend.
Even with all the excitement Claude found time to get a little reading in - this is where you'll actually find him in most of his spare time - in his State chair reading either A) ENT textbooks/journals or B) his "for fun" reading.
Playing some spades - which seems to be the card game of choice when the Harbargers are together. We played on both Saturday and Sunday night and both times - if I recall correctly - I had trouble staying awake towards the end of the round. I think girls won one night and guys the other but couldn't say for sure. I was too busy catching cards to keep up with the score...
We went to a pizza place downtown for lunch after church on Sunday and happened to also have lunch with Tanema who is a visiting student from UMC here for the month...all through growing up I always seemed to blink in a majority of pictures...I've apparently not outgrown that habit:(
In the afternoon we took a little field trip over to drive through the Murphy's Travelers area. This is Laura on the way to see where the gypsies live - notice her trendy sunglasses...
Since Claude was on call for the day he couldn't make frisbee but that didn't stop Breck from heading to play that night at the park where Claude goes when he can. Laura and I went along and watched from the sidelines and then we all met back up with Claude for dinner at IHOP a little bit later.
On Labor Day Laura and I headed to Kroger in the morning to get the rest of our cookout supplies - and at Claude's urging we made sure to get more ribs than we thought we'd need, right Laura? Anyway, once we got back to the house we got to work getting things prepped and Claude arrived shortly after that from rounds to get the grill going. Around lunchtime Tanema came over for the barbeque as well. We all decided to document the grilling of the ribs...

After lunch and a little bit of resting to let our big meal settle it was time for Breck and Laura to pack back up and head towards Charleston to see Anne and Will for a couple of days. Laura was apparently really sad to leave...
And so were we...we can't wait for our next visit:)
Looks like y'all had a blast! What is Tina doing an away rotation in? Sounds like y'all have found the fun things to do!
